About Asbestos Health & Safety

At Hazard Control, our licensed asbestos assessors specialise in asbestos health and safety and asbestos risk assessments to protect your industry or business.
Under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011, asbestos removal of more than 10m2 requires a clearance by an independent competent person (like our asbestos environmental consultants aka licensed asbestos assessors who achieved all relevant training and qualifications).
Before clearance is granted for an asbestos work area to be re-occupied there must be a thorough clearance inspection and if required air monitoring. The clearance inspection must be conducted by a competent person who is independent from the person responsible for the removal work (Section 473).
Air Monitoring & Asbestos Risk Assessments
Asbestos air monitoring is recommended for any sensitive sites or removal in areas where people may be nearby.
Guidance on air monitoring can be found within Section 3.11 of the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland - How to Safely Remove Asbestos Code of Practice 2011.
Alternatively, you can contact us directly for all relevant and necessary information, or to arrange an asbestos health and safety inspection.

To maintain complete transparency, we’ve compiled answers to some of the questions our clients often ask us. However, if the information you’re looking for can’t be found below, we encourage you to get in touch with us. We’re always happy to help.
Why Do I Need Your Services for Asbestos Health & Safety?
Asbestos is a very dangerous material and exposure can risk your health (or that of your staff and clients). It is for this reason that we recommend you engage our services if you think you may have asbestos.
Can I Do My Own Commercial Asbestos Risk Assessment?
Absolutely not. Asbestos risk assessments must be completed by a licensed professional who has completed all relevant training in dealing with hazardous materials.
This is not just our recommendation but is governed by state legislation.
Should All Asbestos Be Removed?
It depends on how much asbestos there is, where it is, the type of asbestos and whether removing it will cause more damage than it’s worth. For this reason, you should arrange an inspection in Brisbane from one of our licensed asbestos assessors (asbestos environmental consultants).
Should I Arrange An Asbestos Risk Assessment Before Purchasing Property or Renovating?
Hazard Control recommends you arrange for an asbestos risk assessment to be conducted on both commercial and residential properties before purchase/renovations take place.
To arrange this, get in touch with our licensed asbestos assessors today.
Where Can I Find Asbestos?
Asbestos is most commonly found in buildings constructed pre 1990s however asbestos has been discovered in properties as new as 2004.
Can You Tell Me More About Asbestos Health & Safety & Independent Testing?
NATA accredited testing is required for all asbestos samples. We have an independent NATA lab that analyses all our samples.
How Long Before I Receive Results?
We can usually expect to receive results from our independent party NATA accredited lab partners within 24 hours of providing them with asbestos samples though mould can take up to 14 business days. Detailed reporting can take up to 14 business days to complete.
Note that these times are estimates only and may differ depending on your circumstances. If you would like to discuss this further, please get in touch.
